Ziskakan

Musical group from Réunion

Ziskakan is a maloya group from Réunion. The frontman is Gilbert Pounia.^[1] They are one of the most famous bands from the island.^[2] The band formed in 1979.^[3] Their style includes adding modern techniques to traditional maloya^[4] (called electric maloya^[5]), as well as adding Indian instruments.^[3] Some of their lyrics are from early poems by Dev Virahsawmy,^[6] including many of the poems from Les Lapo Kabri Gazuyé.^[7]
